PR MS Walk 3K-5K

Back in 2013 we started this event as a recreational one, although always competitive corridors participate in it. In that first edition, the Puerto Rico MS Walk gathered over a thousand partipants. In 2014, over 2,000 attended. In 2015, we included a competitive 5k and about 4,500 people participated in both the 3K and 5K. In a short time, this event has become highly successful, with thousands participating every year. A family atmosphere and enjoyment predominates. Individuals, families, teams of patients’ friends, as well as business teams, enjoy together a spectacular morning on the first Saturday of March of each year. Framed by the scenery of the Luis Muñoz Rivera Park in Puerta de Tierra, San Juan, artistic presentations and activities for children are held at the end of the 3K and 5K events.

World MS Day

Every year, on the last Wednesday of May, our foundation joins to celebrate World MS Day, a gobal initiative to create awareness about multiple sclerosis. Iconic buildings and monuments across the island are iluminated in orange lights, the color that symbolizes multiple sclerosis, as part of the efforts to create awareness about MS. Every year dozens of municipalities, goverment and private organizations join us in this effort to raise awareness about MS. Among the emblematic buildings that have been illuminated as part of the World MS Day are: the Capitol Building, La Fortaleza, Paseo La Princesa, the Tower of the University of Puerto Rico, the “India” Monument in Caguas, as well iconic buildings and “alcaldías” in San Juan, Ponce, Aguadilla and dozens of towns throughout the island.

Zumbathon

Zumba's Certified Instructor Trainer in Puerto Rico, Lieschen Montaner, has organized the largest Zumbathons on the island. Over 700 enthusiasts of this modality realize impressive choreographies the last Sunday of the month of June during the “Feel the Beat - Share the Love” event.   During past years, this initiative produced by Montaner, his team of instructors and Momentum Fitness of Isla Verde, have donated the income to our foundation.

Support Groups

The vast majority of the Support Groups

meet monthly and discuss aspects of the

experience with MS and how they have

been able to manage their daily lives.

Specific topics such as nutrition, exercise,

stress management and others of interest

to the group are discussed. We have a

bank of professional resources that offer

keynotes in a diversity of topics.

Education

Throughout the year we coordinate educational talks related to multiple sclerosis. Topics range from: treatment options available, symptom management, psychology, nutrition and healthy living. Activities are communicated through our Facebook page. It is important to call the telephone numbers that are indicated in order to reserve your space, since they are limited.

Multiple Sclerosis Annual Congress

On the first Sunday of December we celebrate the Multiple Sclerosis Annual Congress. Patients and relatives participate in open discussions with a panel of professionals from different medical specialties. Among the topics covered are the latest advances in treatment and management of symptoms, as well as useful tips for patients’ daily lives.
